Many people today suffer from spiritual illnesses caused by devilish possession and believe that it is a psychological disorder, treating it with medications for many years without recovery because the root cause is that it is a spiritual illness, which comes from evil eye, magic, envy, or possession, meaning the entry of a jinn into the body of the afflicted.
Therefore, correct diagnosis is very important to determine whether the illness is spiritual or psychological before starting treatment. Among the best treatment methods for those suffering from spiritual illness, accompanied by fear, anxiety, and obsessive thoughts, is the continuous recitation of Ayat al-Kursi daily and intensively to completely recover from the illness.
In Sahih Muslim, Ubayy ibn Ka'b said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "O Abu Mundhir, do you know which verse of the Book of Allah is the greatest?" I said: Allah and His Messenger know best. He said: "O Abu Mundhir, do you know which verse of the Book of Allah is the greatest?" I said: "Allah, there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of existence." He then struck my chest and said: "By Allah, may knowledge bring you joy, O Abu Mundhir."
From this authentic hadith, it becomes clear that Ayat al-Kursi is the greatest verse in the Noble Quran due to its mention of Allah's beautiful names and supreme attributes. It also illustrates Allah's power and that nothing in the heavens and the earth can hinder Him. This alleviates anxiety and fills the heart with tranquility and peace.
From experience, the righteous have found this verse to have a profound effect in healing patients with spiritual ailments, as devils or jinn cannot withstand this verse.
It was reported that Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal, may Allah have mercy on him, used to recite Ayat al-Kursi for healing and said, "We have tested it with patients and those affected by sorcery, and we found it to have a significant effect in driving away devils and healing the sick."
In one case, Imam Ahmad mentioned that a patient suffering from severe possession was recited Ayat al-Kursi repeatedly, and the jinn could only scream and flee from the patient immediately.
It is narrated that a man who was suffering greatly due to sorcery was advised by a scholar to persist in reciting Ayat al-Kursi after each prayer and before sleeping. After a few days, his condition improved significantly until he was completely healed from his illness.
The Throne Verse (Ayat al-Kursi) is the greatest verse in the Quran as it encompasses profound meanings about the Oneness of Allah, the affirmation of His names and attributes, and His all-encompassing knowledge and power; indeed, He is capable of all things.
The entire Quran is a cure according to the saying of Allah, "And We send down in the Quran that which is healing and mercy for the believers." However, there are some verses and chapters that have a significant and strong effect on the jinn, and there are indications from the prophetic tradition that confirm their impact, among them is Ayat al-Kursi. But how can we use Ayat al-Kursi for healing to attain complete recovery?
Anyone suffering from spiritual illness, when they begin treatment with legitimate ruqyah (spiritual healing), must expect to experience some initial struggle because they are fighting an unseen enemy – a devil or jinn. Therefore, when you want to start the treatment with Ayat al-Kursi, know that the path will not be strewn with roses. You will encounter a strong internal struggle that attempts to distance you from Ayat al-Kursi and the healing it brings, as well as physical discomfort in dreams and wakefulness, and disturbing dreams. You need to prepare yourself mentally for this and accept it, so you do not lose hope and abandon the treatment.
Moreover, you should consistently repeat Ayat al-Kursi daily in a concentrated manner and in large numbers; you can reach 1,000 times if you wish and are able to do so, or even more or less. Mentioning 1,000 times is not a specific limit to reach, but rather to illustrate the importance of repeating it frequently.
In addition, understand its meanings so that you read it with contemplation as you repeat it, and know for certain that Ayat al-Kursi is a means for healing and that Allah is the healer, exalted be He. Therefore, repeat it while taking it as a reason for Allah to heal you from this trial, keeping your heart attached to Allah, the Exalted, and not solely to Ayat al-Kursi. I ask Allah for healing for everyone, and thank you for your follow-up and support.
