The evil eye and envy can afflict a person, and they may not know whether they are suffering from the evil eye, envy, or an organic illness.
Therefore, it is essential to know the symptoms of the evil eye and envy so that we can determine if we are affected by them or by an organic illness. There are those who go to the doctor and undergo medical tests but find nothing wrong with them. Thus, it is very important to know the symptoms and signs of this illness, the evil eye and envy, so that if we realize we are affected by them, we can take the correct path in treatment to rid ourselves and heal from them.
Before we begin to understand the symptoms of the evil eye and envy, we must first define the difference between them.
The difference between the evil eye and envy:
Envy is broader and more general than the evil eye, as the evil eye is a type of envy. Envy is the desire for the removal of blessings from others due to the envy in the heart of the envious person, and it is one of the most dangerous diseases of the heart. The evil eye can occur unintentionally and may arise from admiration for something while forgetting to mention God and saying "Blessed be God." A person may cast the evil eye on themselves, their wealth, or their children. Therefore, if a person sees something they admire, they should say "Blessed be God." The one who casts the evil eye only affects what they see, while the envious person may envy even something they do not see; they can simply hear about something and can inflict envy.
Symptoms of the evil eye and envy:
The evil eye: The symptoms of the evil eye often manifest as an illness or organic diseases, but even when visiting doctors, they may tell you that you do not suffer from any apparent organic issue. Examples of these symptoms include lethargy, insomnia, and some skin lesions, in addition to neurological and psychological disorders, pallor in the face, and so on. You may experience feelings of aversion to family and society, a desire for isolation, feelings of distress, frequent sighing and groaning, forgetfulness, a sensation of heaviness at the back of the head, heaviness in the shoulders, and a prickling sensation like needles in various parts of the body, as well as feelings of heat in the body and coldness in the extremities.
Envy: Its effects often manifest on wealth, the body, and children, depending on what is envied. For example, if a person is envied for their wealth, something may happen to their possessions or finances, leading to numerous obstacles and problems throughout their day and night. Similarly, regarding other things that are envied, they can turn upside down, and matters become complicated.
One can discuss the evil eye and envy as they may share physical symptoms that appear on the afflicted person, which can manifest together or some may appear depending on the individual. Here are some or most of these symptoms: yellowing of the face, joint pain, tightness in the chest, and sometimes rapid heartbeat; a feeling of the body trembling and the appearance of scattered blisters on the body without doctors understanding the cause; headaches known as migraines, weight loss, and weakness of the body; frequent trips to the restroom; sensations of either heat in the body or coldness in the body and limbs; feelings of laziness, excessive sleep, and daydreaming; irritability over trivial matters and continuous tension; feelings of anxiety and insomnia, or in some cases, excessive sleep and yawning; depression and intense sadness without any apparent reason; frequent forgetfulness and memory weakness; a desire to leave the house and not stay in it; and those afflicted with this condition do not enjoy doing things they used to do before. There are frequent problems among family members over trivial matters and a love for isolation; an abundance of worries and dark thoughts; the emergence of unpleasant odors despite cleaning the house, among other fluctuations in life's affairs.
To protect against the evil eye and envy
It is necessary for every person to follow certain steps during their day and night to avoid being affected by the envy of envious people and the evil eye of those who do not mention the name of Allah, the Exalted. The first reason to prevent being afflicted by this is to seek help from Allah and rely on His protection. If we protect Allah by observing His limits, that is, by following His commands and avoiding His prohibitions, then the reciprocal is that Allah will protect us. Additionally, we should not exaggerate in displaying the blessings that Allah has bestowed upon us, especially to those we believe do not wish us well. We should also adhere to the morning and evening supplications, perform prayers on time, frequently remember Allah, recite His Book, and engage in night prayers. All acts of worship are a means of fortifying ourselves against the evils of those who do not wish us well. Furthermore, we should follow the Sunnah of our Prophet (peace be upon him) by seeking protection through the two chapters of seeking refuge (Al-Falaq and An-Nas) and other verses of legal ruqyah. It is best for a person to learn verses to perform ruqyah on themselves if they feel they have been affected by the evil eye during a visit to a place, a celebration, or a gathering. This way, it alleviates the accumulation of evil eyes and the harm of the envious and the envious.
How to treat the evil eye and envy
The first cause of treatment is always supplication, which means asking for healing from Allah, the Exalted, who is capable of healing every ailment. We should turn to Him and seek out the times of response. After that, we should focus on the material causes, starting with adhering to the laws of Allah and avoiding falling into prohibitions, and following what Allah has commanded us to do so that our journey to Allah is a true and correct one. Then, we should engage in legal ruqyah with the well-known verses that everyone knows, and a person can perform ruqyah on themselves. Additionally, having the envious person wash the one affected by the evil eye, if the envious person is known, is the most beneficial and quickest remedy.
If the condition is severe, the state of the condition may delay healing; therefore, it is essential to follow these steps with patience and daily commitment without interruption until healing occurs. Commitment is the key to achieving complete healing, God willing. We invite every believer who fears Allah, the Almighty, that if they see something they like, they should say, "Blessed be Allah," and pray for blessings so as not to harm their brother, as this is forbidden and constitutes harm to your Muslim brother.
We ask Allah to heal every patient suffering from this illness promptly and encourage you to help spread this goodness to every afflicted person so they can commit and walk the path to healing. Peace be upon you, and God's mercy and blessings.
