the Death

Death is an inevitable reality that all people on this earth are certain of, regardless of the beliefs and religions they adhere to; that is, everyone is certain that they will die in the end because we have not heard of anyone before us who remained alive and did not die.

However, there are questions that can be raised about death, and for every person to find comfort and conviction, they need logical answers that lead them to understand the truth of death well. Among these questions are:

What is death?

What happens after death?

What are the signs of death?

Can the time of death be predicted?

What is the importance of preparing for death?

Is there life after death?

What is the fate of a person after death?

For a person to feel at ease on their path and have confidence in the way they choose, they must know the answers to these questions as well as understand their purpose so they can focus on their path and know the things they need to do to avoid taking the wrong path, which would be detrimental to them.

Islam explains this and answers these questions accurately and without doubt, so that a true Muslim who knows the answers to these questions and understands their fate and believes in it firmly does not experience fear of death or death anxiety.

In Islam, death is the departure of the soul from the body, a definitive exit from this world, separating from life, loved ones, and friends. What happens after death is that Muslims believe there is another life in which a person is held accountable for their deeds in the hereafter, whether they were in accordance with what God wants and is pleased with or the opposite. Thus, death in Islam is a transitional point from this world to another abode, not an absolute end.

As for the signs of death, some signs appear such as weakness of the body, lack of energy, and changes in breathing, among others. Regarding predicting the time of death, only Allah Almighty knows it, and He knows the time of each person's death, and no one else knows that. The importance of preparing for death lies in the fact that it contributes to the salvation of the servant on the Day of Resurrection and the Day of Judgment, because in Islam, a person was not created in vain but was created to worship his Lord and will be held accountable for that after death, as there is another life, the life of Barzakh, then resurrection, and in the Hereafter, there is either eternal bliss or eternal punishment. This is the fate of every human being because every person is accountable, as Allah Almighty said, "And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me."

Islam came to teach us that we are responsible and that we will be questioned after death so that we do not waste our time in this world on things that will not benefit us in the Hereafter. The wise and intelligent person is the one who pays attention and knows what awaits him and occupies himself with it so that he does not regret after death.

Once a person knows the answers to these questions, he finds inner peace and knows his direction because he understands why he is living in this world and where he is going.

To understand this meaning better, I advise you to read the Quran with contemplation to see if it answers clearly and explicitly or not, for Allah Almighty said, "Do they not reflect upon the Quran? If it had been from other than Allah, they would have found within it much contradiction."

Among the verses in which Allah Almighty speaks about death is His saying: "And fear a Day when you will be returned to Allah. Then every soul will be compensated for what it earned, and they will not be wronged."

And His saying: "Every soul will taste death, and you will be fully compensated your wages on the Day of Resurrection. So whoever is removed from the Fire and admitted to Paradise has attained [his desire]. And what is the worldly life except the enjoyment of delusion."

Ibn Umar used to say: "When evening comes, do not wait for the morning, and when morning comes, do not wait for the evening. Take from your health for your sickness, and from your life for your death." Narrated by Bukhari.

The Quran tells us that we will die and it is necessary for us to work for what comes after death so that we may rest in eternal comfort. Remembering death does not mean living in sadness and worry, but it is a reason that motivates us to work for what we are heading towards, for we were not created in vain, as mentioned in the previous verse. Therefore, we must strive to be among the winners in the hereafter.

Among the causes of tyranny, corruption, and the widespread evil on earth is the heedlessness of death, as well as the false beliefs that Allah, the Almighty, does not accept from His servants. Therefore, it is essential for a person to first seek the correct belief and then adhere to it in order to prepare themselves for what comes after death.

This brief article about death is an invitation to everyone who reads it to take a moment for self-reflection, a candid pause to review their affairs and consider whether their life is in a form that pleases the Creator of this universe, for the Creator of this universe is one and He is the Creator of all things, so the paths to Him cannot differ, nor can the beliefs differ; it is indeed one religion.

Reflect and seek what the true religion is, and Islam has come to clarify to people that it is the religion that all people must follow. It calls upon people to contemplate the cosmic signs of Allah as well as His Book to reach the truth of this religion and whether it is the one that Allah has chosen for them or not.

This world is short and does not deserve to be wasted on what does not benefit us. The best way to occupy our time and what will save us in the hereafter when we meet Allah, the Almighty.

We invite you to watch a video of the sermon about death on my YouTube channel, and you can enable subtitles to understand the video. We also invite you to subscribe to the channel and share the video, as the one who guides to good is like the doer of it.

I ask Allah to show us the truth as truth and grant us the ability to follow it, and to show us falsehood as falsehood and grant us the ability to avoid it. Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.
